Decling Eelgrass

Carbon storage in dying eelgrass beds

Picture1.jpg

Although eelgrass populations are relatively stable across Puget Sound, there has been exceptional loss in the San Juan Islands.

Through a variety of projects, we aim to understand how carbon from the eelgrass has remained in the bay and use isotopes to map the eelgrass retreat.
